Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation ranges for this position are between $25 - $50 per hour.
About the role:
Everway is seeking a Contract Instructional Designer to craft and develop the framework for quality educational experiences and materials for students with significant cognitive disabilities. This position integrates research-based practices, optimizes learning and enhances outcomes using integral instructional design principles, theories, and methods. The Contract Instructional Designer collaborates with colleagues to create effective and impactful solutions to customer needs while supporting student learning.
Responsibilities:
- Create and iterate the design of learning experiences K-5 content for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
- Utilize instructional design guidelines, theories, and methods to craft effective and impactful solutions.
- Plan the organization and structure of instructional materials, including scope and sequences and design matrices.Design and develop quality educational experiences, considering structure, accessibility, engagement, interactivity, and continuity.
- Design assessments to adequately and accurately measure student outcomes and learning objectives.
- Collaborate with internal instructional designers to receive subject matter expertise and oversight.
- Support the content authoring process.
- Evaluate content to ensure it meets quality standards, academic standards, and company goals.
- Develop resources that incorporate evidence-based practices, promote student engagement, and address diverse learning styles and needs.
Skills:
- Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of state standards, including extended or alternate standards for students with the most complex learning needs.
- Instructional Expertise: Deep knowledge of special education (specifically the high needs population), curriculum design, differentiation, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and evidence-based practices for instruction.
- Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education or related field and/or degree or certification in Instructional Design
- Experience curriculum mapping and/or curriculum development preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with strong attention to detail.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks.
- Previous experience creating digital content in a content and/or learning management system is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
