What we're looking for:
Reporting to the Manager of IT Operations, the Senior IT Engineer will be responsible for improving, scaling, and maintaining InStride’s technology ecosystem across identity, endpoints, SaaS applications, and integrations. This role partners closely with Security, Product & Technology, Legal, and all internal teams to ensure our systems are stable, secure, and aligned with business needs.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen and cross-functional partnership. They excel at navigating complex, interconnected systems, architecting scalable solutions, and creating a frictionless, secure technology experience for all InStride employees.

Skills we’d love to see you show off:
- SaaS First IT Expertise: Experience supporting and scaling cloud-based corporate environments. You understand identity flows, automation patterns, integration points, and how to troubleshoot issues across a distributed, modern SaaS ecosystem.
- macOS Administration + Modern Apple MDM: Hands-on experience managing macOS devices at scale through an Apple-focused MDM such as Kandji or Jamf. You have expertise with bash scripts, enrollment workflows, configuration profiles, security baselines, and lifecycle management.
- Okta Administration + SSO/SCIM Integrations: Operational experience administering Okta as the identity backbone of an organization. You know how to configure OIDC/SAML apps, understand Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), implement SCIM provisioning with modern RBAC practices, maintain identity/security policies, and build lifecycle automations with Okta Workflows.
- AWS Identity & Access Management (IAM): Experience managing identity and access across AWS environments, including IAM roles, policies, permission boundaries, and multi-account access patterns. Ability to partner with Security and Engineering to maintain secure, scalable access models.
- Cross-System Troubleshooting & Solutioning: Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across identity, endpoints, SaaS applications, integrations, and networks. You think in systems, break down complex problems into clear steps, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver scalable, long-term solutions.
- Clear Communication & Business Acumen: Strong ability to understand business needs, articulate technical considerations, evaluate options, and communicate recommendations clearly across departments.
- Project Management and Execution: Designs strong project plans, effectively mobilizes colleagues across teams, and ensures the work is completed on time and to a high standard
Who you are (ideal profile):
- 5+ years of IT experience, with at least 3+ years operating in a SaaS-first environment
- Deep experience managing and troubleshooting macOS and Windows OS and identity-centric ecosystems
- Strong understanding of how systems interact and how identity flows across tools
- Experience creating configuration profiles, CIS security baselines, and Apple MDM workflows
- Proficiency in administering Okta, including SSO, provisioning, security policies, and Workflows
- Familiarity with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), including roles, policies, and secure access workflows
- Proven ability to document and translate complex technical requirements into actionable work
- Experience managing complex IT projects and initiatives across teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage partners at all levels
- Strategic thinker who aligns technical decisions with business objectives

How you will create impact (key responsibilities):
Identity, Access, and Device Management
- Administer Okta, including SSO configurations, provisioning workflows, app integrations, and security controls
- Create a seamless and stress-free Day 1 experience for new employees by ensuring all accounts, devices, and access are fully prepared, tested, and ready before their start date.
- Manage macOS and Microsoft fleet lifecycle through Kandji, InTune, or equivalent MDM: enrollment, compliance, profiles, patching, security baselines
- Support AWS identity and access management by maintaining IAM roles, policies, and secure access configurations across multi-account environments
- Maintain a consistent and secure identity posture across systems and environments
Systems Operations & Troubleshooting
- Demonstrate proficiency with Jira Service Management and collaborate closely with the IT Engineer to ensure requests are triaged efficiently, SLAs are met, and overall service quality remains high
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across identity, endpoints, SaaS apps, integrations, and networks
- Partner cross-functionally to evaluate requests, understand requirements, and deliver scalable solutions
Infrastructure, Automation & Integration Work
- Improve and simplify IT operations by designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable automations that reduce manual effort, eliminate friction, and enhance overall operational efficiency
- Collaborate with Security to strengthen system posture and maintain compliance alignment
- Support integration design across corporate systems to improve data quality, workflows, and user experience
Team & Operational Excellence
- Help maintain a strong remote-first culture by ensuring clear communication, enabling seamless virtual collaboration, and designing IT processes that support distributed employees with consistent, high-quality experiences
- Improve IT team efficiency by creating playbooks, standardizing processes, and documenting best practices
- Collaborate with internal teams to explore and implement innovative technology solutions, including AI-driven agents and automation tools, that enhance productivity, streamline processes, and support a high-performing remote-first culture.
