We’re looking for an Accounting Manager who is as comfortable leading a small team as they are diving into the numbers. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you’ll oversee the accounting function, ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, and provide accurate financial insights that support Minga’s growth. You’ll own the record-to-report, procure-to-pay, and invoicing processes..
You will manage a Junior Accountant, providing mentorship and guidance while maintaining hands-on involvement in day-to-day accounting operations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and mentor the Junior Accountant, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and taxes.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises.
- Implement and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and process improvements.
- Partner with the VP of Finance and other leaders to provide insights, forecasts, and analysis supporting strategic decisions.
- Manage external auditors and tax advisors during reviews, audits, and filings.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, federal, and US tax regulations.
What We Require
- CPA designation required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior management or supervisory experience.
- Proven ability to lead and develop at least one direct report.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Experience implementing or improving accounting systems and processes. Experience with Quickbooks, Netsuite, or similar ERP is an asset.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- IFRS, US GAAP, and US tax compliance experience is a plus!
