Role Snapshot

McGraw Hill seeks an innovative Academic Designer (Editorial) specializing in 6-12 Social Studies to create engaging digital and print instructional materials that impact educators and learners worldwide. This remote project-based role involves developing basal curriculum materials including textbooks, interactive activities, assessments, and teacher resources.

Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and coordinate basal instructional materials for grades 6-12 Social Studies across digital and print formats; research curriculum standards, edit manuscripts, oversee freelancers, and ensure materials align with state standards and project specifications. Work within content management systems to assemble educational content and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet milestone deadlines.
Skills & Tools: Strong command of English language, writing, grammar, and editing; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe software; excellent organizational, communication, and project management abilities with attention to detail and deadline orientation. Experience with content management systems and digital curriculum development preferred.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's preferred) in a social studies field such as US History, World History, Geography, Economics, or Political Science, plus minimum 24 months of editorial or educational publishing experience. Teaching experience in 6-12 Social Studies or experience writing/editing secondary instructional materials strongly preferred.
Location: United States
Compensation: $55K–$65K/yr
