At HackerRank, our People team exists to help every Hacker do their best work-wherever they are. We’re looking for a People Operations Generalist to support our growing, distributed team across the Americas.
This is a hands-on, hybrid role based in Santa Clara, CA, and you’ll be the go-to People Ops partner for AMER employees. You’ll work closely with our global People team while owning the day-to-day People experience in the region - from employee lifecycle moments to complex, sensitive situations.
This role is built for someone with real experience who’s ready to take ownership, move fast, and operate with a high degree of autonomy. You’re proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating People processes independently, knowing when to act and when to ask. What you’ll do
- Serve as the primary People Ops contact for employees and managers across AMER.
- Partner with PBPs and Talent to support onboarding, offboarding, and key employee lifecycle moments.
- Provide first-line support for policies, benefits, payroll coordination, leaves, and HR systems (BambooHR).
- Support annual open enrollment, including communications and system updates.
- Coordinate and track Leaves of Absence with vendors, ensuring compliance and accurate records.
- Support performance cycles, engagement initiatives, and regional People programs.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and regional employment regulations.
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in People Operations/HR Generalist.
- Experience supporting U.S.-based employees; familiarity with AMER employment practices, benefits administration, immigration, LOAs, and compliance basics (California experience strongly preferred).
- Able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate when appropriate.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail across multiple concurrent processes.
- Clear, empathetic communicator with a people-first approach.
- Experience supporting remote or distributed teams.
- Highly proficient with HRIS and People Ops tools, with deep hands-on experience (BambooHR a strong plus).

Compensation
- Base salary range: $90,000 - $100,000.
- This range doesn’t include bonuses, stock options, or benefits for which you will be eligible.
