Summary
Senior Legal Counsel at American Student Assistance (Britebound), a national nonprofit focused on career readiness for youth, providing strategic legal support and guidance to senior leadership and the Board of Directors. This role manages diverse legal matters including governance, compliance, and risk management in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities: Provide general corporate legal counsel on nonprofit operations, advise on governance best practices and 501(c)(3) compliance, support employment law matters, oversee data privacy compliance, draft and manage contracts, manage intellectual property portfolio, and serve as legal advisor to leadership on risk management and regulatory issues.
Skills & Tools: Excellent legal research and communication skills, strong nonprofit law and corporate governance expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate effectively in a mission-driven environment with sound judgment.
Qualifications: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and minimum of 5-8 years of general corporate legal practice experience. Prior in-house or large law firm experience and active bar membership in good standing are strongly preferred.
Location: Hybrid in Boston, Massachusetts, United States (3 days remote, 2 days in-office per week)
Compensation: $138,000 – $190,000 / annually
