IT Manager I for the University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, responsible for managing network infrastructure, database systems, and IT staff to support state-of-the-art diagnostic operations. This vital role ensures reliable technology systems for animal health diagnostics and research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Network administration, database design, large-scale information system maintenance, software/hardware application support, and supervision of IT staff. Designated essential personnel during university weather emergencies.
Skills & Tools: Network administration, database design and management, IT infrastructure maintenance, software and hardware troubleshooting, staff supervision and leadership, and knowledge of large-scale diagnostic systems.
Qualifications: Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field with 3-5 years of IT management or network administration experience. Prior experience managing IT teams and supporting research or laboratory environments preferred.
Location: In-Person
Compensation: $75K–$105K/yr (estimated)

The University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UKVDL) develops and applies state-of-the-art diagnostic methodology to improve animal health and marketability, to protect the public health and to assist in the preservation of the human-animal bond through the principles of One Health.
About the Role
This position is a vital member of the team serving as Information Technology Manager. Duties include network administration, database design, maintaining a large-scale information system, maintaining software/hardware applications, and supervision of IT staff. This position is a designated position during university inclement weather closings.
This position is based at the Coldstream Research Campus off Newtown Pike. This is part of a rapidly developing corridor, offering convenient access to both I-75 and New Circle Road with the added benefit of access to complimentary parking at the facility.
