Summary

The Early Learning Leader builds educational leadership capacity and supports professional development of teaching staff across Head Start service areas. This role ensures effective operations, high-quality instruction, and consistency of practices across the Shine Early Learning network.

Key Responsibilities: Provides coaching and mentorship to education leads and teams, plans and implements professional development initiatives, collaborates with grantee leadership and community partners, and monitors compliance with licensing and QRIS standards. Leads assigned department personnel, tracks education milestones, collects data for program improvement, and represents the department at meetings and training events.
Skills & Tools: Strong coaching, mentoring, and leadership abilities with excellent communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency in data analysis, program management, and knowledge of early childhood education models and special education best practices.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field with 6+ courses in ECE and preschool teaching experience; master's degree preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience supervising and coaching teachers/education leaders, with Head Start experience and special education background strongly preferred.

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Early Learning Leader is responsible for building the educational leadership capacity to support the growth and professional development of the teaching staff. The Early Learning Leader also plans and collaborates with both national and local Shine Early Learning staff to ensure effective and efficient operations across Head Start service areas within the program and across the Shine Early Learning network.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
 Provides individual and group support for education leads in implementing educational initiatives and coaching.
 Communicates and collaborates effectively with Grantee Leadership, staff and community partners to ensure high-quality instruction and consistency of practices.
 Mentors and coaches the Education team; plans and implements comprehensive, differentiated and sequential professional development for education staff.
 Plans and supports the on-boarding of Early Learning Inclusion/Specialists and Education Leaders.
 Collaborates and coordinates with other service area leadership and initiatives ensuring timely and appropriate support for children with atypical needs as well as parent education and outreach activities are consistent with education goals and activities
 Consistently contributes to program, network and professional excellence through productive leadership through participation in program planning and leadership (1:1 with DSI-, policy council relations, leadership team meetings), Shine Early Learning Transition Team meetings and other collaboration meetings.
 Tracks, monitors and ensures all Education and Disabilities/Mental Health SISS milestones are achieved and Transition Rubric benchmarks are met.
 Supports efforts to maintain program compliance with state/local licensing and QRIS.
 Communicates with Implement Partner leadership on programmatic status, updates and any concerns regarding the classroom staff or facilities.
 Provides training to Implement partner staff on education model and practices.
 Collects and analyzes data as a basis for decision making for program improvement.
 Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.

Team Leadership
 Leads assigned department personnel, which may include providing oversight and input into hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, as well as ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the completion of all work performed by team members.
 Educates team members on all department and company policies and procedures.
 Meets with team members regularly to identify and resolve problems, manage projects, track goals, and review work processes and procedures.
 Represents team and/or department at meetings, events, and training as needed.

Early Learning Leader Non-Essential Duties:
 Performs any and all other duties (or functions) as assigned.

This position earns up to $65,055.81 annually

Job Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education OR Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least six (6) courses in early childhood education and experience teaching preschool-aged children OR
state awarded preschool teaching certification with experience teaching preschool aged children; master’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum of three (3) years experience supervising and coaching teachers and education leaders; experience with early childhood education and special education strongly preferred; prior Head Start / Early Head Start experience a plus.
3. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
4. Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
5. Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.
