Job Description

Art of Problem Solving is seeking a Director of Product, Customer Experience to lead and evolve the end-to-end journey for families, from discovery through enrollment and ongoing engagement.

This role sits at the intersection of customer experience, marketing, and operations. You'll be responsible for shaping a clear, cohesive, and high-quality journey across our digital and operational touchpoints, ensuring families can easily understand, access, and continue within the AoPS ecosystem.

You will lead a team of product managers and work closely with design, engineering, operations, and academic teams. This is a highly cross-functional leadership role that requires strong product judgment, systems thinking, and the ability to drive alignment across a complex set of stakeholders.

The Director of Product, Customer Experience will:

  • Shape how families experience AoPS from the moment they first hear about us to when they're fully engaged in the learning journey
  • Make it easier for parents to understand what we offer, choose the right path, and create resources and communities to help parents support their kids along the way
  • Lead and coach a team of product managers, supporting their growth and raising the bar for product thinking, execution, and collaboration
  • Simplify a system that has grown complex over time, across our website, enrollment flows, and internal tools used by our campuses
  • Partner closely with marketing, academics, operations, and engineering to create a cohesive and effective experience that reflects our brand identity
  • Own product strategy and execution for the end-to-end customer journey, deciding what's worth building and driving to measurable outcomes
  • Define what success looks like (conversion, activation, retention, student outcomes) and use that to guide decisions

The ideal candidate has:

  • Led product work that spans multiple teams and systems, especially where user experience and operations are tightly connected
  • The ability to zoom out to set direction, but also get into the details when something isn't working
  • Strong product judgment with a focus on clarity, usability, and getting the right thing built, not just shipping quickly
  • Experience managing product managers and raising the bar for how a team thinks and executes
  • The ability to untangle messy systems and make them simpler and more coherent over time
  • Comfort working in a technical environment, partnering closely with engineers, understanding constraints, and making solid tradeoffs without needing to write code
  • The ability to bring people along, especially when the best path forward isn't obvious or teams have different perspectives
  • A Data-informed approach to decisions, with the ability to define meaningful metrics and use them to evaluate impact
  • Experience working on products that involve funnels, enrollment, or lifecycle journeys
  • An understanding of how tools like CRM and marketing systems affect both the user experience and internal workflows
  • Deep care for education and helping students build real problem-solving skills
