The Data and Reporting Analyst supports Arizona State University's Office of Institutional Analysis by collecting, validating, and reporting official university data to meet institutional and external reporting requirements. This role ensures data accuracy and consistency while coordinating with multiple university departments to deliver reliable information to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities: Coordinates data collection for surveys including the Common Data Set, IPEDS, and college guidebooks; gathers and verifies information from multiple sources; manages reporting timelines and deadlines. Acts as liaison between administrative units, performs data validation, maintains documentation of processes, and supports ad hoc reporting requests.
Skills & Tools: Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills; experience with data analysis, validation, and documentation; ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple reporting priorities.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience in data analysis or business analytics, or equivalent combination of experience and training. Desired experience includes work in higher education institutional research and familiarity with IPEDS, Common Data Set, and college guidebooks.

Job Description: This position supports the University Office of Institutional Analysis mission to provide quality information through the collection, compilation, validation, and reporting of official university data. The position coordinates data collection and reporting activities, gathers and verifies information from multiple sources, and ensures the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of official university data. Working collaboratively with university partners, this position utilizes strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate reporting processes, manage reporting timelines, and support the timely delivery of reliable information for internal and external stakeholders.

Position Salary Range: $50,000-$76,500;

Depending on experience Essential Duties: Coordinates data collection activities for updating the Common Data Set and responding to college guidebook surveys (including US News & World Report, College Board, Peterson’s, Princeton Review) and various state/federal mandated reports: Establish communication timelines to successfully meet deadlines. Reviews annual surveys for changes and prepares a response plan. Gathers and organizes information from multiple sources. Works with office staff to extract data from official reporting database. Make initial contact with contributing departments and provide background information. Responds to questions and resolves concerns. Performs and validates data entry. Prepares and updates documentation of the data collection processes to maintain efficiency. Prepares the IPEDS Institutional Characteristics survey and coordinates with offices responsible for completion of other survey components. Works cooperatively with office team members to provide timely, accurate, and consistent information for other ad hoc internal and external requests. Acts as office liaison with other administrative units across the university to gather essential information and data needed for all required reporting. Assists in the maintenance of the office website, ensuring all publications are up-to-date and easily accessible. Performs independent studies and web/library searches on relevant subjects as needed.

Desired Qualifications: Experience in a higher education setting, especially within institutional research units. Familiarity with IPEDS, the Common Data, and college guidebook surveys and rankings. Experience reviewing and formatting data for accuracy, clarity, and visual presentation. Experience extracting information from external databases such as the IPEDS Data Center. Experience using data tools to extract information from databases and visualizing the information graphically. Experience creating organizational documents to track projects communication and completion milestones. Knowledge of data definitions, processes, and tools used in higher education reporting. Skill in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint). Skill in planning and coordinating activities and establishing priorities. Skill in performing accurate data entry with attention to detail. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to address and resolve data issues to ensure quality and consistency. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

Working Environment: Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
