Graphic Designer Department: Health System Shared Services | Communications and Marketing Scope of Position Responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and executing high-quality visual assets that align with the medical center’s brand strategy. Provides advanced interactive and graphic design support for The Ohio State University Medical Center, managing multiple projects from inception through completion on a Macintosh platform. This role requires strong creative vision, technical expertise, and leadership in design thinking. Expert knowledge of design software is required, including Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, approved AI platforms, and Microsoft Office. Position Summary The Senior Graphic Designer develops and manages design projects assigned by the supervisor to meet the goals, objectives, deadlines, and established budgets of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center while upholding organizational brand and design standards. Work may include graphics, illustrations, animations, presentations, social media creative, website visuals, marketing collateral, and print materials such as advertisements, brochures, direct mail, annual reports, and internal and external publications. This role also directs and collaborates with photographers to plan and lead photo shoots. As assigned, the Senior Graphic Designer serves as project lead for organization-wide visual design initiatives, including brand site updates, digital asset management, photo library updates, and environmental branding. In this capacity, the role is responsible for engaging appropriate stakeholders and planning, coordinating, and executing projects on schedule and within budget. The position contributes new ideas to the design and content creation teams to improve efficiency and strengthen brand identity. Work is completed under tight deadlines and according to an approved production calendar, with direction and goal setting provided by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in design and at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing branding, advertising and digital campaigns, social media content, video production, and other high-impact creative work. Requires advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as approved AI tools. Experience with photography, digital asset production, PowerPoint templates, and print production processes is preferred. Knowledge of interactive design, website content management systems, animation, and digital media is a plus. Candidates must understand accessibility standards and WCAG guidelines, demonstrate the ability to work within established brand standards, manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and possess strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
