Administrative manager for the Ocean, Earth and Space (OES) department at Old Dominion University, responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all departmental operations. This role ensures the department meets academic, research, and program goals while managing budgets, policies, and facilities.

Key Responsibilities: Supervise daily departmental functions, manage budgets and office managers, and develop policies for personnel and facilities. Oversee equipment and supplies management, coordinate with the Graduate Program Director and department advisors, and supervise facility repairs, alterations, and modifications.
Skills & Tools: Strong administrative and budget management capabilities, leadership and supervisory experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in office management and facility coordination.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; typically 3-5 years of administrative or operations management experience in an academic or professional setting. Experience with higher education operations and departmental management strongly preferred.
Location: In-Person
Compensation: $55K–$75K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

Serves as administrative manager to OES with responsibility for planning, managing, directing and supervising the daily functions and operations of the department including supervision of budgets and office managers. Assists the chair to ensure department meets all academic, research and program goals and collaborates with the Graduate Program Director and chief department advisor to implement educational goals for the department. Responsibilities also include developing and implementing policies and procedures for departmental personnel, facilities/space utilization and equipment/supplies used for teaching, research and administration and for departmental supervision of repairs, alterations, and modifications to facilities, and management of equipment.
