Summary

Lead gymnastics instruction for elementary school students across NYC schools and community centers through Togetherhood's enrichment marketplace. Create engaging, age-appropriate curricula and foster a passion for gymnastics while supporting children's physical and personal development.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and teach gymnastics curriculum tailored to elementary age students, specify necessary equipment needs, consistently arrive on time, and create memorable learning experiences that help students grow and appreciate the sport.
Skills & Tools: Experienced gymnastics instruction with proven ability to teach school-age children, strong class management and relationship-building skills, curriculum development, enthusiasm for youth education, and flexibility with cooperative communication.
Qualifications: Demonstrated experience leading your own gymnastics classes with at least three professional references required. Passion for teaching and personal development with the ability to convey why gymnastics is meaningful.
Location: In-Person - New York, NY
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $35,000 – $55,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

What You'll Do

You will be matched with opportunities to teach gymnastics to elementary school students at schools, buildings and communities across New York City. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks. In this role, you'll have the following responsibilities:

  • Conceive of and create an age-appropriate curriculum for your class
  • Specify the equipment you'll need to run the course successfully so that the school can buy it for you, if necessary
  • Consistently arrive at your class on time (or early!)
  • Create and memorable experience for the children in your class to help them grow and develop a passion for gymnastics
  • Help children understand why gymnastics is so wonderful and how it's helped shape you as a person

Who You Are

  • Fun, enthusiastic, experienced gymnastics instructor, with deep experience teaching school age children
  • Able to create positive class community and build relationships with students
  • Experience leading your own classes
  • Has excitement, joy and passion for teaching kids and personal development/learning
  • Cooperative, supportive, flexible
  • Has a strong work ethic and do whatever it takes mind set
