The Account Manager, Original Custom is responsible for the overall health and performance of their respective portfolio including list management, acquisition of new titles and projects, annual moderate growth in portfolio value, and delivering on customer's requested needs in their original content print or digital product. The Account Manager is responsible for developing strong author relationships, communication across stakeholder groups, and demonstrating introductory level project management skills. The Account Manager must collaborate with the sales and marketing teams and is responsible for demonstrating and training our custom capabilities/products to our existing customers.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Strategically manage a base of up to $3M in portfolio revenue by managing publishing cycles of individual titles, ensuring all customers are in a solution that meets their individual/course needs, and identification of growth strategies.
- Analyze sales and production reports to maintain and grow portfolio key indicators, including: profitability, manuscript delivery, and overall portfolio value.
- Account Managers are responsible for all author communication during product lifecycle including manuscript deadlines, proofing deadlines, contracts, and pricing communications. Nurture collaborative relationships with field sales teams, following established communication protocols, and limited campus travel.
- Account managers are responsible for annual price increases, monitoring orders/backorders, and maintaining a profitable gross margin on all new signed projects.
- Ensure tracking is up-to-date for all programs including BC14, Salesforce.com; update notes to reflect all conversations and events with authors/potential customers.
- Service and demonstrate our products and capabilities to existing and potential authors.
- Provide all necessary documentation to editorial assistants, media editors, and CPMs in a timely fashion to ensure there are no delays in project production.
Schedule editorial launch meetings for all new/complex projects.
- Assist Sr. and Exec. account managers with additional projects ex. attrition reports, development of training tools, documentation on best practices, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience communicating complex topics verbally and in writing to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Experience applying strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
- Experience in conflict resolution/negotiation.
- Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and adapt as priorities shift.
- Proven ability to creatively problem solve.
- Ability to focus on results and work toward corporate goals.
- Experience demonstrating detail-orientation and ability to track details of projects/database information.
- Experience managing stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in publishing, college textbook sales or customer service.
- Experience in digital publishing.
- Previous database management skills.
- Experience analyzing data to create action plans.
- Demonstrated track record as lifelong learner; affinity for continuous learning and adaptation.
Salary Range:$51,000 - $61,000/year
Exemption Status:Exempt
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to multi-task; critical thinking and analytical skills; ability to deal with multiple interruptions and competing priorities. Requires long periods of close concentration. Must be able to travel occasionally and work more than 40 hours/week as needed.
