Kiddom is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Core Services to enhance their educational platform through technical leadership, supporting APIs, services, and data tools that benefit both end-users and engineering teams. The ideal candidate will work with various languages and technologies to drive impactful technical change within the organization.

Responsibilities: Lead cross-functional projects, improve system designs, debug software issues, and foster collaboration across teams to meet the needs of the organization.

Skills: 6+ years of software development experience, proficiency in Go and at least one other language (TypeScript, JavaScript, Python), AWS services management, Docker, and DevOps integration.

Qualifications: Experience leading projects and developing scalable software solutions, adaptable to customer needs, and capable of maintaining composure during production incidents.

Location: This position is based in New York, with no indication of remote work options.

Compensation: $150000 - $180000 / Annually

The Systems Engineering and Core Services team supports the common APIs, services, data stores, and dev tools that provide a great product experience to our end-users and a great developer experience to our engineering teams. A typical day might start out looking for trouble and end with project plans and cross-functional collaborations that run a thorny problem to ground.

This role combines technical leadership with strategic impact, shaping Kiddom’s systems to grow each school year. You’ll work in languages from Go to TypeScript to Python, on technologies from web APIs to graph databases to edge computing and LLMs. You will have the opportunity to drive technical change across every team. You will help engineers around you do their best work using tools you select and champion. Your outtie is exceptionally good at debugging null pointer exceptions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development experience at scale.
• 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional projects.
• Fluency in Go plus at least one of TypeScript, Javascript, Python.
• Experience managing services in AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with Docker containers and Linux virtual machines.
• You put the dev in DevOps, bridging applications to infrastructure.

$150,000 - $180,000 a year

At Kiddom, we list a compensation range to provide transparency, but it’s not set in stone. If we find an exceptional candidate with outstanding experience and skills, we’re more than willing to go beyond the listed range. Salary range is dependent on geographic location, prior experience, seniority, and demonstrated role related ability during the interview process.
