The Director of Special Projects, Content will report directly to the Executive Director, Literacy Curriculum, Elementary, and will play a critical role in leading and managing initiatives that align with Amplify’s elementary core literacy products in both English and Spanish. The Director of Special Projects will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing projects that enhance product offerings, improve operational efficiency, and support strategic goals. They will partner closely with product and project management in planning these projects. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of educational curricula, and the ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish.

Essential Responsibilities:

Bilingual Curriculum Development

  • Lead content development on special projects across both English and Spanish literacy programs.
  • Assist in the creation, revision, and review of instructional materials, ensuring compliance with customer needs, our pedagogy, quality, and editorial guidelines. 
  • Customize and adapt content to meet the specific requirements of state adoptions, including alignment to state standards, frameworks, and instructional expectations.

Leadership and Project Management

  • Oversee content team work on special projects aimed at elevating and complementing the existing literacy curriculum, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and product strategy.
  • Collaborate with partners from product and project management in leading project planning sessions, setting project objectives, identifying necessary resources, and establishing timelines and milestones.
  • Partner with Research & Measurement on instructional design and content development.
  • Make thoughtful, strategic decisions about what content features or components to prioritize—balancing "must haves" with "nice to haves" to deliver the greatest value within project constraints.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Executive Director, content development teams, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are communicated and understood.  

Team Collaboration and Development

  • Partner with other content team members, including the Director, Spanish Curriculum, Literacy and the Director of Literacy Curriculum, K-5, to ensure coherence across projects. 
  • Work alongside the Executive Director to foster a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and professional development. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, project management or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in content development within educational publishing or curriculum design
  • Proven experience in leading complex projects with cross-functional teams
  • Fluent reader, writer, and speaker in both English and Spanish
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with tactical execution, using sound judgment to solve problems creatively and prioritize effectively
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach and a keen eye for detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, business, or related discipline
  • Experience in bi-literacy or bilingual curriculum development
  • Teaching experience in bilingual classrooms
  • Familiarity with state and national education standards and adoption processes
  • Experience creating content for both print and digital materials

Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this role is $55.00-$65.00.
