Summary

Lead and manage Iowa State University's campus IT support team to ensure reliable technology services for faculty, staff, and students. Drive strategic IT planning, oversee endpoint device management, and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency and service quality across the institution.

Key Responsibilities: Manage IT teams and cross-functional staff while overseeing endpoint device management, user support, and lab technology initiatives. Develop and implement IT policies, conduct trend analysis, recommend improvements, collaborate on strategic planning, and research and deploy new IT products and tools.
Skills & Tools: Strong leadership and team management capabilities; expertise in IT service management frameworks (ITIL preferred) and endpoint device management; strategic planning and stakeholder collaboration; analytical skills for trend analysis and reporting; knowledge of academic IT environments and specialized research/teaching technology support.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related IT experience required; preferred qualifications include ITIL certification, prior higher education IT experience, and proven expertise implementing service management frameworks and managing IT teams in academic settings.

Compensation: Estimated: $85,000 – $110,000/year based on Senior Manager title, PS813 pay grade at a major public research university, 7+ years required experience, and Midwest location.

Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Iowa State University is seeking applications for the position of Senior Manager of Information Technology for Campus Support. This role is responsible for ensuring the well-being of college and departmental faculty, staff, and students by leading and managing a team of professionals to provide appropriate assistance. The individual will lead and manage projects, as well as oversee training and development initiatives.

Responsibilities include collaborating with staff to track and analyze trends, generate statistical reports, offer recommendations for improvement, and ensure quality control. Additionally, the position involves working with professionals across teams to address and resolve issues as well as working with senior leaders, departmental chairs, associate deans, and others.

This leadership role will contribute to strategic planning, participate in committees that recommend and implement policies and procedures, research new products and tools, and assist in their implementation and rollout.


Example of Duties

Develops, modifies, and implements short and long-term solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems architectures, network systems, and applications infrastructure.

Implements and maintains the policies and goals for the IT department.

Conducts research and recommends the selection of IT equipment, applications, and supplies.

Reviews system requirements and business processes.
