The Family Literacy Facilitator promotes intergenerational literacy activities and parenting skills by working directly with parents and children, primarily from low-income backgrounds. This position is essential for supporting family engagement in educational and developmental activities.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct home visits to teach parents and engage families in literacy and learning activities, implement assigned literacy and parenting lessons, maintain required documentation, and submit timely reports. The role requires flexible scheduling to accommodate family needs and active participation as a team member in the Family Literacy Project.
Skills & Tools: Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work effectively with all populations are essential. Preference is given to those with experience in parenting education, home visitation, and promoting literacy activities.
Qualifications: Minimum requirement is a High School Degree with experience serving families. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Family Studies or similar field with demonstrated experience in parenting education, home visitation, and promoting healthy family interactions.

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Family Literacy Facilitator will work directly with parents and children in promoting intergenerational literacy activities and parenting skills. Must work effectively with people from all backgrounds and situations. The majority of participants are low-income.

4. Communicate with supervisors.
5. Conduct pre- and post- family literacy assessments.
6. Maintain and keep current required documentation.
7. Ensure flexibility in schedule in work hours in order to accommodate the family’s schedule for visits.
8. Participate as an effective member of the Family Literacy Project team.
9. Submit reports in a timely manner.
10. Attend scheduled meetings and training.
11. Other duties as assigned.
