Summary

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required; Master's degree is preferred. Current or prior high school or post-secondary teaching experience in Spanish or French is advantageous.

Graders evaluate submitted student work for content, competency and adherence to the instructions and rubric. Graders are held to efficiency and quality goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accurately read and measure student performance in Spanish and French based against a grading rubric.
  • Collaboratively work with the Lead for the course(s) to provide the student with constructive, supportive and concise feedback.
  • Complete grading rubrics and leave detailed feedback and comments for the learner.
  • Check student submissions for plagiarism and for grammar.
  • Provide in-context feedback and scoring using the Sophia-provided rubric.
  • Participate in calibration efforts to ensure consistency of quality for our learners.

Job Skills:

  • Subject matter competency in Spanish and French.
  • Prioritization and time management skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Work Experience:

• Current or prior HS or Post-secondary teaching experience in the subject matter.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required; Master’s degree is preferred.
