Summary

BetterUp is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to architect and maintain robust, scalable data systems that power their AI-driven professional coaching platform and impact thousands of workers globally. This role bridges DataOps, MLOps, and Infrastructure to enable next-generation analytics and AI platform capabilities.

Key Responsibilities: Architect and maintain enterprise-grade data systems, centralize data processes and tooling, support analytics teams, and manage data infrastructure with focus on security, privacy, and governance. Work across the organization to understand data problems and unlock data enablement through standardized processes and best practices.
Skills & Tools: Strong programming experience in Python, deep data infrastructure knowledge, CI/CD systems expertise, and hands-on experience with analytics stacks like Snowflake and MLOps tooling. Systems-oriented thinking with ability to balance immediate needs with scalable, future-ready solutions.
Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in data platform engineering with a background in building and maintaining scalable data systems. Familiarity with modern data tools and enterprise-grade best practices in data architecture.
Location: Hybrid (United States). Required in-office attendance at designated hubs (NYC, SF, Austin, Chicago, or Washington DC metro) at least 2 days per week or 8 days per month.
Compensation: $187,000 – $286,000/year
