Position Description: The Brown Cancer Center is seeking a Research Scientist for the Medicinal Chemistry Core Facility. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for co-designing and synthesizing derivatives for multiple drug discovery programs. The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team focused on drug discovery. The incumbent will learn medicinal chemistry methodology, how to design biologically relevant compounds, and to interpret biological data. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in synthetic organic chemistry and be capable of searching scientific literature for information on recent developments and for synthetic protocols and conduct all laboratory activities within established safety procedures.

Essential Duties: Co-design and synthesize a small library of derivatives and design robust synthetic routes. Maintain a well-kept and accurate laboratory notebook. Help manage the daily operations of the research lab including ordering, maintaining instrumentation, general lab upkeep, compliance with safety regulations, inventory management, and cataloging and storing derivatives. Prepare written reports upon request that document synthetic methodology and prepared derivatives. Assist with manuscript preparation, writing chemistry experimentals and other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Medicinal and/or organic chemistry background. Ph.D. Degree in organic or medicinal chemistry and 2 or more years work experience. Proficient in synthetic organic chemistry. Target Compensation Maximum: $91,721.00 Target
