Role Snapshot
The Family Literacy Facilitator promotes intergenerational literacy and parenting skills by working directly with low-income families through home visits and educational activities. This role is essential to building foundational literacy competencies and family engagement in learning.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct home visits to teach parents and engage children in literacy and learning activities, implement assigned lessons, perform pre- and post-assessments, maintain documentation, and submit timely reports. Work flexibly to accommodate family schedules and participate actively in the Family Literacy Project team.
Skills & Tools: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (required); strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse populations; ability to assess family literacy needs and deliver educational content; organizational and documentation skills.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Conduct home visits
2. Teach assigned parents and engage parent and child in literacy and learning activities.
3. Implement assigned literacy and parenting lessons during home visits.
4. Communicate with supervisors.
5. Conduct pre- and post- family literacy assessments.
6. Maintain and keep current required documentation.
7. Ensure flexibility in schedule in work hours in order to accommodate the family’s schedule for visits.
8. Participate as an effective member of the Family Literacy Project team.
9. Submit reports in a timely manner.
10. Attend scheduled meetings and training.
11. Other duties as assigned.
