Summary

Senior Software Engineer for Kiddom's Infrastructure team responsible for building scalable, sustainable platforms that support the company's growth while fostering a DevOps culture. This role offers significant agency in designing infrastructure and supporting engineering teams at a Series C to D education technology company.

Key Responsibilities: Grow DevOps efforts from small to large-scale multi-region infrastructure, support engineering with CI/CD improvements and production performance evaluation tools, design scalable APIs and RESTful web services, and ensure high availability and resiliency of infrastructure systems.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or Clojure; expertise in REST API design, CI/CD tools, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps/SRE methodologies, design patterns, and strong problem-solving and debugging skills. Familiarity with authorization technologies (OAuth), SecOps practices, and functional experience with JavaScript, Go, and Python.
Qualifications: BS or MS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of professional software engineering experience. Experience designing and building REST APIs, exposure to DevOps or SRE methodologies, and demonstrated success scaling infrastructure at a rapid-growth SaaS startup.
Location: Hybrid in New York

The InfraOps team’s primary goal is to enable and empower Kiddom’s engineering by building a scalable and sustainable platform that engineering can rely on to meet our company KPIs. This includes:

Evangelizing and fostering a healthy DevOps culture here at Kiddom, working with teams to establish best practices and help guide new and existing services.

Practicing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) wherever possible, giving us the confidence in repeatable processes that can be automated.

You will:

  • Grow our DevOps efforts from small scale to large scale multi-region
  • Share ownership of the entire infrastructure architecture
  • Aim for high availability, high resiliency
  • Support the engineering team with tools to evaluate the performance of their code in production environments, speed up CI/CD pipeline, & feature verification

  • Design and build a scalable, generalized framework for third-party API integrations
  • Leverage existing infrastructure and components to build RESTful web services
  • Build APIs and robust testing environments for internal and external developers

You have:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years professional software engineering experience
  • Experience with Java, or Python, Go, Clojure in a production environment
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs
  • Exposure to authorization technologies (OAuth)
  • Experience with continuous integration and automation tools and processes
  • Strong knowledge of design patterns and software engineering best practices
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
  • Strong acumen or exposure to DevOps or SRE methodologies
  • Keen sense for SecOps.
  • Functional experience using internal tools: javascript, golang, and python
  • Prior success scaling infrastructure at a rapid growth saas startup
  • Strong empathy for educators and students
  • Passion for improving education equity

Nice to have

  • Experience with Go(lang)

$160,000 - $200,000 a year

Salary range is dependent on geography, past experience, seniority, and demonstrated role related ability during the interview process.
