Role Snapshot
The Instructional Support Specialist provides comprehensive instructional support for online faculty and students at the University of Northern Iowa, focusing on accessible content creation, learning management system integration, and emerging educational technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Assist online faculty with accessible content creation and editing, manage digital video projects including captioning and transcripts, support LMS integration and webinars in Blackboard Ultra, and collaborate on instructional material development while ensuring digital accessibility compliance and staying current with emerging technologies.
Skills & Tools: Practitioner-level experience with learning management systems (Blackboard Ultra), digital accessibility remediation and WCAG 2.1 compliance, video capture and editing software, strong project management and organizational abilities, and excellent collaborative interpersonal skills.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with at least two years of substantive online instructional development and course design experience, including hands-on LMS content building and digital accessibility remediation. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in educational technology or instructional design, digital accessibility certification, UDL principles knowledge, and familiarity with Quality Matters standards.
