Summary

Part-time IT Knowledge Specialist responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining technical knowledgebase documentation to support technology use across Community College of Baltimore County. The role improves user experience through comprehensive support content and administrative assistance to the IT department.

Key Responsibilities: Create and develop technical documentation to meet specific departmental needs, collaborate with IT teams to maintain and expand support content databases, document troubleshooting efforts, and assess knowledgebase effectiveness for continuous improvement. Maintain proficiency in Office, SharePoint, and other software technologies through ongoing professional development.
Skills & Tools: Strong technical writing and documentation skills, proficiency with Office and SharePoint platforms, ability to collaborate across departments, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, and research skills for staying current with technology.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Information Technology or current enrollment in an IT college program preferred. Prior experience supporting technology and developing technical documentation is preferred.
Location: USA (Community College of Baltimore County, Maryland area)
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $28,000 – $36,000/year based on title, seniority, part-time status, and location.

Job Description

The purpose of this class is to provide technical support through the design, development, implementation and maintenance of all technical knowledgebase documentation, and administrative duties to support the use of technology throughout the college.

High School diploma/GED, candidates currently enrolled in college studing Information Technology or Associate's Degree in Information Technology preferred. Experience supporting technology, developing and maintaining technical documentation preferred. 

  1. Initiate, design and develop documentation to meet specific needs of groups and individuals.
  2. Collaborate with all areas of IT to maintain and expand a database of support content to improve user experience.
  3. Document trouble-shooting efforts with appropriate groups.
  4. Assess effectiveness and organization of knowledgebase material for ongoing refinement and process improvement.
  5. Maintain currency in Office, SharePoint and other computer software technologies through research and professional development participation.
