Summary
The Chief Risk Officer will lead Nelnet Bank's comprehensive risk management program and ensure regulatory compliance while establishing a strong risk culture. This senior executive role requires collaboration with the CEO and board to mitigate risks and support organizational excellence at a startup bank.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee the bank's risk management strategy, establish compliance frameworks, chair the risk management committee, and ensure effective communication of risk metrics to the board. Lead the 2nd line of defense across all risk categories including compliance, credit, operations, technology, and liquidity while monitoring and reporting on existing and emerging risks.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in risk management programs, banking regulations, BSA/AML compliance, and regulatory interactions; strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities with capability to manage multiple priorities and provide credible challenge to organizational strategies.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting with 20+ years of relevant experience in risk management or finance; advanced degree and certifications preferred.
Location: Hybrid in Draper, Utah, United States
Compensation: $180,000 – $250,000/year
