WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Per Scholas is seeking a dynamic, team-oriented individual to serve as a Cybersecurity - Instructional Associate to join our ever-expanding organization. This person will join our Technical Instruction Training Team and be classified as a support instructor. The Instructional Associate will play an important role in our organization’s mission, as they train Per Scholas learners to be outstanding entry-level technicians. They will be responsible for the following:
Main Objectives
The candidate should be able to:
- Provide effective support to the Lead Instructor in and out of training sessions (Class).
- Provide effective support to Learners in and out of training sessions.
- Display knowledge or ability to understand basic information technology areas including:
- Hardware
- Software
- Networking
- Security
- Troubleshooting
Responsibilities:
Lab / Classroom Responsibilities
- Use the provided curriculum and materials to assist the lead instructor in conducting technical training sessions tailored to prepare learners for their CompTIA Certification Exam and Entry-Level ITS jobs.
- Monitor and assist the class of learners (sized 15 - 30 ) via video conferencing or within the physical lab (classroom) environment.
- Troubleshoot issues with lab equipment, software, or network including audio/visual.
- Assist learners with individual needs and questions, comments, or concerns.
- Perform office hours/tutoring for learners in need or those falling behind.
- Serve as a timekeeper to assist the instructor in keeping time tables and schedules e.g. breaks, timers, and more.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Grade / Review Labs, Assessments & Assignments
- Utilize the learner management system canvasLMS to monitor and address learner grades, performance, attendance, etc.
- Take attendance using various platforms.
- Review curriculum materials and report discrepancies to the curriculum development team.
- Participate in daily/weekly check-ins with the Lead Instructor to discuss challenges, lab / learner needs, agendas, timelines, and etc.
- Participate in bi-weekly check-ins with Management.
- Perform data entry and record keeping in various software applications such as salesforce.
- Participate in weekly check-ins with career advancement coaches.
- Meet with learners 1 on 1 to discuss grades, attendance, and any learning concerns.
Growth Responsibilities
- Upskill / Crosstrain in order to support any class type e.g. I.T. Support, networking and obtaining vouchers for other certifications (Including but not limited to CompTIA Certifications).
- Perform out-of-class tasks and projects.
- Use various platforms such as CanvasLMS, Udemy, Coursera, & LinkedIn Learning in order to upskill in different areas.
- Occasionally perform lead instructor duties e.g. teaching lessons or parts of lessons in preparation for promotion to teach a class.
Qualifications
A good candidate should have some, if not most of the following:
Educational qualifications
- Graduate of Per Scholas
- Any relevant experience to information technology
- Recommended by a Per Scholas Instructor / Staff Member
- Certified in Cysa+ or other relevant cyber security certifications
- Ability to learn new skills in a timely manner
- Interested in upskilling & improving
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Tech Savvy - Basic understanding of information technology
- Interested in teaching/helping others learn
Interpersonal qualifications
- Receptive to feedback
- Team-oriented, ability to communicate thoughts and ideas.
- Responsible, flexible, adaptable, and communicative
- Ability to work asynchronously without the need for micromanagement.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ever changing start-up type environment, and believe deeply in the Per Scholas mission of knowing any individual from any of the many diverse communities has talent, and should be recognized, and recruited from, and that any member of these communities should be able to achieve a well-paying position and a career.
For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary of $45,676
