Summary

Temporary Grant Writing Assistant position at First Book supporting the organization's grant writing function to secure funding for educational equity initiatives. The role is critical in enabling First Book to reach 6.5 million children annually by providing dedicated grant development support.

Key Responsibilities: Draft and edit grant proposals and letters of inquiry, conduct research to identify funding opportunities from foundations and government agencies, collaborate with internal teams to collect program data and impact stories, and monitor deadlines while maintaining grant tracking systems.
Skills & Tools: Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience required; minimum of five years in grant writing or nonprofit development experience required.
Location: Hybrid in Washington, District of Columbia, United States
Compensation: $25 – $40/hour
