Senior Technical Writer at Blackbaud responsible for creating customer-centered user assistance content across multiple formats including in-product help, documentation, videos, and web content. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain user assistance content for software products, gather information from subject matter experts, respond to user feedback, create screencasts and videos, document APIs, and contribute product perspective during development cycles. Work across multiple concurrent projects with shifting deadlines while maintaining content quality standards.
Skills & Tools: Strong writing, editing, and communication abilities with proficiency in technical writing tools such as MadCap Flare, HTML, CSS, and online presentation techniques. Experience with API documentation, screencasting, agile environments, and external communication through product communities and social media preferred.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications or related field (or equivalent work experience) with minimum 5 years of related technical writing experience. Demonstrated ability to quickly master new processes, technical concepts, and tools with strong attention to detail and project management discipline.

Job Description

Blackbaud is searching for an experienced Technical Writer to join our Strategic Content Development team. As a Technical Writer, you should have a passion for creating content to guide and assist our customers as they further their missions. Our Technical Writers develop user interface text, in-product help, web sites, blog and social media posts, videos, and other content for our products. Our Technical Writers interact with a wide variety of stakeholders within our company. You will be a member of a cross-functional, high-performing team consisting of Software Engineers, User Experience Designers, Product Managers, and other Technical Writers. What you'll be doing: Develop customer-centered user assistance content that enhances the user experience and adds value to our software products Evaluate and respond quicky to feedback about user assistance content and follow up with the source of the feedback Work with and produce content for multiple projects and teams that have concurrent and shifting deadlines. Produce work that meets the standards of both Blackbaud and our clients Research and learn new technologies as tools and methodologies change for the creation of user assistance content Interact with Subject Matter Experts to efficiently gather information with the goal of becoming an expert on the products you document Work closely with other team members and show initiative in improving overall user assistance content and processes Contribute to product development by offering feedback on product prototypes, developed code, and general user perspective What we'll want you to have: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in communications or related field Minimum of 5 years of related experience Strong writing and communication abilities, editing skills, and attention to detail Enthusiastic work ethic, passion for technology, and the discipline to manage multiple tasks The ability to quickly master new processes and technical concepts Experience using technical writing tools and workflows Experience with Madcap Flare, HTML, CSS, and an understanding of other online presentation techniques Experience with creating screencasts and videos, documenting APIs, and working in an agile environment is a plus Experience communicating with external audiences, such as in product communities, blogs, and social media is a plus Stay up to date on everything Blackbaud, follow us on Linkedin, X, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube Blackbaud powers social impact through purpose‑driven technology and responsible AI.
