Key Responsibilities: Define and enforce QA frameworks, test strategies, and release confidence scores while ensuring quality metrics are objective and auditable. Lead the QA Guild, manage the defect lifecycle, oversee supplier quality standards, and drive continuous improvement through quantitative metrics and systemic risk identification.
Skills & Tools: Strong expertise in QA governance, test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipeline integration, and non-functional testing (performance, security, resilience). Leadership capabilities, analytical mindset for metrics-driven decision-making, and ability to communicate quality standards across technical and business stakeholders.
Qualifications: Minimum 8-10 years of QA experience with at least 3-5 years in a QA leadership or management role, preferably in agile/DevOps environments with CI/CD experience. Strong background in test automation, quality metrics, and enterprise-scale software delivery frameworks.

Job Title QA Manager (Hybrid) Job Description Role summary Kaplan International Pathways is a leading provider of global education, centred on student outcomes. The QA Manager is accountable for quality assurance governance across the Application Engineering & Architecture function. This role provides independent, objective assurance that all releases meet defined technical and operational standards before entering production. While the Development Manager governs delivery flow and release cadence, the QA Manager governs quality standards, release confidence, and defect prevention. The role establishes and enforces a Quality-as-Code capability, transitioning the organisation from predominantly manual validation to automated, repeatable, data-driven assurance embedded within CI/CD pipelines. You will lead the QA Guild and partner closely with the Development Manager, Solution Architects, Portfolio Delivery, and external suppliers to ensure quality is engineered into every stage of the lifecycle. Detailed responsibilities Quality Governance & Release Authority Define and continuously evolve our QA Framework, Test Strategy, and mandatory standards across functional, non-functional, automation, and performance testing. Ensure definitions of done incorporate measurable coverage, automation thresholds, and compliance criteria, with auditable evidence of adherence. Own the Release-Confidence (RC) Score and act as the independent Go/No-Go authority. • Ensure quality metrics are transparent, objective, and resistant to subjective interpretation. Automation, Assurance & Engineering Enablement Embed automated testing in our CI/CD pipelines in partnership with the Development Manager. • Drive the transition from manual validation to automated regression, API, contract, and non functional testing in support of high confidence “Green Lane” deployment patterns. Leverage appropriate AI-assisted tooling to enhance coverage, detection capability, and regression efficiency while maintaining governance control. Contribute to architectural decisions where quality, resilience, or non-functional characteristics are materially impacted. Supplier Oversight, Defect Management & Continuous Improvement Act as quality gatekeeper for work entering the Application Engineering & Architecture domain, enforcing standards across Project Managers and external suppliers. Reject deliverables that fail to meet agreed quality, automation, or documentation standards and provide structured remediation pathways. Own end-to-end defect lifecycle visibility, systemic risk escalation, and reporting on defect density, escaped defects, regression stability, and technical debt. Use quantitative metrics to identify systemic failure patterns, implement preventative controls, and drive continuous improvement in delivery behaviour and platform stability. Promote quality engineering from idea to operation vs post-development consideration. You will also carry out other duties within the broad scope and intent of the role, recognising that capability and governance will evolve alongside organisational maturity. What you’ll bring to the role -Essential Skills & Experience Demonstrable experience leading QA capability in a distributed/collaborative structure. • Demonstrable experience defining and operationalising automation frameworks in complex, distributed environments, including Test Pyramid strategies, API testing, and contract testing. Demonstrable experience embedding quality cotrols and shift-left engineering practices. • Demonstrable experience using quantitative quality metrics to influence delivery behaviour and improve system stability. Proven capability to operate independently and exercise objective release authority, including withholding approval where standards are not met. Strong stakeholder management capability, including the ability to enforce standards across internal teams and external delivery partners. Desirable Skills & Experience Experience enforcing code quality and release standards on external/offshore development partners. with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts, specifically implementing SLOs and Error Budgets to govern release velocity. Experience using tools to visualise flow metrics (e.g., DORA metrics) to drive continuous improvement.
