Key Accountabilities
Instructional Template Systems
- Design reusable templates for lessons, slide decks, activities, worksheets, and assessments
- Apply evidence-based instructional frameworks to structured layouts and content patterns
- Develop modular components that scale across subjects and grade levels
- Contribute to standards and documentation that enable consistent, efficient content production
Interface & Interaction Design
- Design student-facing lesson and assessment experiences
- Design teacher-facing workflows for assigning, reviewing, and organizing content
- Prototype and test new learning interaction patterns
- Collaborate with UX Designers to ensure cohesive interaction systems across the platform
Authoring Integration
- Define template structures that integrate with Edwin’s authoring system
- Partner with Engineering to ensure feasibility and scalability
- Support authoring by establishing clear structural patterns
- Optimize presentation modes (reader view, slide view, printable formats, etc.)
Accessibility & Inclusion
- Ensure designs meet WCAG accessibility standards
- Incorporate inclusive design principles for diverse learners
- Support multilingual and scaffolded content structures
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Curriculum, and Commercial teams
- Participate in usability testing and classroom feedback sessions
- Use data and user insight to refine templates and interfaces
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of Edwin’s design system
- 3+ years experience in instructional design, UX design, product design, or learning experience design
- Strong understanding of K–12 pedagogy and classroom workflows
- Experience designing structured educational content and digital interfaces
- Proficiency in Figma and component-based design systems
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams on interactive experiences
- Strong systems thinking and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Nice to Have
- Teaching experience
- Experience in EdTech
- Familiarity with Canadian curriculum standards
- Experience designing within CMS or authoring tools
Compensation
The base salary range for this contract full-time position begins at $65,000+ per annum based on experience. Compensation is part of our broader Total Rewards package, which includes benefits and programs that support employee well-being and growth.
