Role Snapshot
The STEPS Instructional Designer develops and revises online and technology-enhanced courses in Canvas while collaborating with faculty to ensure alignment with instructional design best practices and institutional standards. This role supports course quality assurance and maintains comprehensive documentation of learning assets.
Key Responsibilities: Design and update online courses using ADDIE, TILT, and Universal Design for Learning methodologies; collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts on learning objectives, assessments, and activities; conduct quality assurance reviews for accessibility, usability, and standards adherence; attend weekly meetings and maintain project documentation.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency in Canvas and instructional design tools; expertise in ADDIE, TILT, Universal Design for Learning, and Quality Matters standards; strong collaboration and communication skills; attention to detail regarding accessibility and course consistency.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, or related field; experience designing online courses and applying instructional design frameworks. Master's degree or IDOL certification may be preferred but not explicitly stated.

Job Description
There are two openings for the STEPS Instructional Designer (IDs). The IDs will:
- Develop and revise online and technology-enhanced courses in Canvas and approved instructional design tools.
- Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to organize course content, learning objectives, assessments, rubrics, and learning activities.
- Apply ADDIE, TILT, Universal Design for Learning, accessibility standards, and Quality Matters-aligned practices.
- Follow all College templates, practices, standards, policies, and instructional design workflows.
- Create and update learning segments, embedded practice activities, assignments, course resources, and faculty support materials.
- Support quality assurance by reviewing courses for alignment, consistency, accessibility, usability, and adherence to College standards.
- Attend mandatory weekly meetings on Tuesdays from 8:30–9:00 a.m. CT and other required meetings, trainings, and project check-ins.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, course files, templates, and instructional assets.
