Role Snapshot

Full-time, non-tenure-track nursing faculty position at Old Dominion University's School of Nursing to teach undergraduate and postgraduate BSN students. The role supports the university's mission to prepare exceptional nurses and expand enrollment in their nursing programs.

Key Responsibilities: Deliver didactic and clinical instruction to pre-licensure BSN students, teach online courses for post-licensure BSN students, and instruct laboratory and clinical courses. Faculty will contribute to undergraduate nursing program expansion with a balanced teaching workload across multiple course formats.

Skills & Tools: Strong clinical nursing expertise, effective teaching and communication abilities, and proficiency in both in-person and online instruction delivery. Experience with curriculum development, student assessment, and collaborative healthcare partnerships is valuable.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Nursing or higher is typically required; current RN licensure in Virginia or ability to obtain licensure; and prior teaching experience or clinical expertise in nursing. BSN preparation and experience with pre-licensure and/or post-licensure nursing education programs preferred.

Compensation: $60K–$85K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

The School of Nursing at Old Dominion University invites qualified candidates to apply for a full-time, non-tenure-track nursing faculty position in the undergraduate nursing program. We are expanding enrollment and increasing faculty. We are searching for a faculty member who will share and contribute to our mission to transform healthcare by preparing exceptional nurses, extending nursing science and partnering with our global community. The start date for the 12-month position will be April 25, 2026.

Faculty responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction in for pre-licensure BSN students. Online instruction for post-licensure BSN students as well as additional teaching responsibility for lab and clinical courses will round out the faculty member’s workload. Salary and appointment rank are competitive and commensurate with experience.
