Role Snapshot

The Instructional Designer provides expert instructional design consultation and development support for online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses at Old Dominion University. This role advances student-centered, accessible learning practices by applying instructional design principles, learning theories, and emerging academic technologies to support student success and engagement.

Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with faculty and academic units to design, develop, and evaluate high-quality courses that align with institutional standards. Provide comprehensive instructional design expertise, consultation, and development support while applying evidence-based pedagogy and innovative teaching practices.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in instructional design principles, learning theories, and educational technology; strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with faculty and academic units. Proficiency in course development, evaluation methodologies, and emerging academic technologies.
Qualifications: Typically requires a master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field with 2-3 years of instructional design experience. Experience designing online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced courses and knowledge of accessibility standards and student-centered learning practices preferred.
Location: In-Person
Compensation: $55Kโ€“$75K/yr (estimated)
