Moodle with us!
We're the world's most popular learning platform and we’re on a mission to empower educators to improve our world.
We are growing fast and are looking for a driven Legal Officer to provide legal advice across our global company. Fully flexible and working from anywhere in the European region, this role will be offered as a permanent role in the UK or as a Contractor anywhere else - just let us know where you are when you apply!
What your new job can look like…
This role will work closely with our General Counsel to provide high quality legal advice across GDPR and privacy, software and service contracts (mainly under US laws), software license arrangements and intellectual property. As part of a small, tight-knit legal team, you will get the opportunity to be exposed to a range of different areas and develop your skills.
With the pace of Moodle, no two days will ever be the same! But most days will involve a mix of:
- Drafting, negotiating and managing contractual arrangements for Moodle, usually under Australian and US laws.
- Collaborating with stakeholders in reviewing contracts and making recommendations.
- Ensuring all contract negotiations consider the appropriate risk and regulatory compliance obligations.
- Taking a strong supporting role in data privacy matters (particularly GDPR) with Moodle’s external DPO and customer support via Moodle’s CRM.
- Assisting the General Counsel to maintain the company's awareness of current and soon to be introduced privacy law requirements in different jurisdictions.
This is a fully remote role that will require you to work across multiple time zones, primarily Europe and the US, with occasional meetings in the Australian time zone.
We'd love to meet you…
Especially if you have:
- Proven experience as a Legal Officer or Contracts Officer.
- Legal qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements.
- Strong understanding of privacy laws and data protection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- An ability to thrive in a diverse, global environment and build strong, positive relationships with team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as be a strong team player who contributes to overall team goals and projects.
