As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at SmartPass, you’ll be at the forefront of our growth efforts, utilizing creative and proven outreach methods to engage with and help schools + districts learn about our solutions. You’ll be responsible for identifying and qualifying new opportunities, building strong initial relationships and lasting impressions, and working closely with the Account Management team to build our pipeline.

We are hiring 2 BDRs - one will be focused on our West Coast Territories and one will be focused on our East Coast Territories.
How You’ll Contribute Right Away
We’ll set you up to quickly become the go-to resource for generating new leads and starting valuable conversations with key decision-makers at schools and districts. From day one, you'll work closely with the Account Management team to understand customer needs and position SmartPass as the solution they’re looking for. We believe in giving you the autonomy to master your role while offering support and mentorship every step of the way.
What You’ll Do
- Own Your Territory: Take full responsibility for generating leads and building a healthy sales pipeline through outreach—calls, emails, and social media. We’re looking for BDRs who find creative approaches to traditional challenges and understand how to drive brand love and engagement through innovative outreach methods.
- Build Relationships: Connect with schools and district leaders, learn about their needs, and communicate how SmartPass can make a difference.
- Demo SmartPass: Conduct product demos that give prospects a clear understanding of how SmartPass can solve their challenges, setting the stage for in-depth conversations with Account Managers.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work seamlessly with Account Managers and Marketing to ensure smooth handoffs, aligning on outreach and engagement strategies.
- Track Your Progress: Maintain detailed records of all outreach activities in our CRM (HubSpot) and use data and metrics to track and drive your success.
What You’ve Done

1–2 years of experience in a sales or BDR role
- Proven experience prospecting and effectively communicating with both cold and warm leads
- Confidence in cold outreach is essential—this should be a skill you’re actively using and refining in your current role.

Strong proficiency with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) and tech-savviness in using sales, workflow, and collaboration tools to streamline processes and enhance communication

Experience and interest in being on the cutting edge of sales and collaboration technology

Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges

Prior experience—or a strong interest—in the K–12 market is a plus
The estimated salary range for this role is $55,000–$65,000 per year. Actual compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, such as skill set, years of experience, and role-specific factors.
