KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks a High School Learning Specialist (ESE) to ensure compliance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), teach small groups of students, and support general education settings. The role focuses on helping students achieve IEP goals while facilitating the Response to Intervention (RtI) process.

Key Responsibilities: Provide push-in co-teaching support, pull-out small-group instruction, and/or teach a Learning Strategies course based on student needs and caseload assignments. Facilitate regular IEP meetings, collaborate with staff and families around special education processes, create positive classroom environments, implement curriculum, and assess student progress.
Skills & Tools: Strong understanding of special education processes, IEP development, and differentiated instruction; ability to co-teach effectively in general education settings and provide targeted interventions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Qualifications: FLDOE certification required to be eligible for instructional stipends; experience in special education instruction or support roles preferred. Knowledge of IEP compliance, RtI processes, and postsecondary readiness planning beneficial.

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks Learning Specialists (LS) for the 2026-27 school year. The LS focuses on ensuring that KIPP Jacksonville is in compliance with all Individual Education Plans (IEPs), teaching small groups of students, providing support facilitation in general education settings, and working with families around the special education process. The LS will work typically with multiple grade levels and will help facilitate the RtI process with staff. The LS will facilitate regular meetings around student IEPs and will work directly with students to ensure their IEP goals are met.

All Learning Specialists are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned.  Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Principal.

Depending on the grade levels the LS works with, the model and schedule can vary slightly.

Service Delivery & Instructional Support

At the high school level, Learning Specialists support students through multiple service models based on student needs and caseload assignments:

  • Push-In Support: Co-teach a general education classroom to provide accommodations, differentiation, and academic support aligned to IEP goals.

     

  • Pull-Out Support: Provide small-group instruction in a resource setting for targeted intervention and skill development.

     

  • Learning Strategies Course: Teach a scheduled class focused on IEP goal progress, academic skills, and postsecondary readiness.

Learning Specialists may serve in one or a combination of these roles.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Our current starting salary for a first-year Learning Specialist is $50,000

*The salary offered in the DocuSign doesnโ€™t include any stipends for which the candidate may be eligible. In our current year of paying out millage stipends, certified New-to-KIPP instructional staff received a historical average of $11,000 with the addition of receiving TSIA stipends. There are other opportunities to earn money at KIPP Jax in the form of additional stipends. This role will only be eligible for instructional stipends if they have their FLDOE certification.
