Role Snapshot

Speech and Language Pathologist providing direct therapy and assessments to students with speech-language impairments at KIPP NJ school sites. The role focuses on developing students' oral communication skills to support their educational access and success.

Key Responsibilities: Provide direct treatment, conduct speech and language screenings, develop and implement IEP communication goals using various service delivery models, and collaborate with teachers and families to support student progress toward communication objectives. Document student progress, participate in IEP meetings, and provide classroom strategies to facilitate specific communication skills.
Skills & Tools: Expertise in speech-language pathology assessment and treatment, knowledge of IEP development and special education processes, strong collaboration and communication skills with teachers and families, and ability to implement evidence-based treatment plans across multiple service delivery models.
Qualifications: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and state licensure/certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist required. Experience in school-based speech-language pathology and familiarity with special education processes preferred.
Location: In-Person - Paterson, NJ
Compensation: $55K–$75K/yr (estimated)

Job Description

Here’s what you need to know:

We’re looking for a Speech and Language Pathologist for the 2026-27 school year! We need you  to help our students develop the skills they need to communicate and succeed in school. As Speech and Language Pathologist, you will assess and provide speech and language therapy for students at assigned KIPP NJ school sites. You will focus on developing students’ oral communication skills to support their ability to access their educational program. You will report to the Director of Special Education.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Speech Coach Extraordinaire

  • Provide direct treatment to students with speech-language impairments
  • Develop and implement educationally-based IEP communication goals using a variety of service delivery models to support the classroom curriculum
  • Create donor and prospect profile documents in support of teammates
  • Conduct speech and language screenings
  • Follow and implement treatment plans
  • Communicate with families of students on assigned caseload regarding progress toward IEP goals

Teammate and Collaborator

  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure that students meet the goals outlined in their IEPs
  • Provide individualized classroom strategies to facilitate specific communication skills
  • Participate as a member of the child study team
  • Document student progress towards meeting established goals and objectives
  • Participate in IEP meetings of students on assigned caseload
  • Conduct formal assessments
