Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in public health, health behavior, health communication, digital health, or related field; demonstrated research productivity and extramural funding success; experience teaching at university level; background in digital media, behavior change, or health technology intervention development preferred.
Compensation: $75K–$120K/yr (estimated)
Job Description
The Indiana University School of Public Health‐Bloomington (SPH‐B) invites applications for a Tenured/Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Digital Media, Behavior Change, & Public Health in the Department of Applied Health Science.
The SPH-B seeks individuals who will contribute to academic excellence in research, teaching, and service in support of the Department of Applied Health Science’s mission to prevent disease and promote the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. This 10-month appointment would ideally start August 1, 2027, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications received by 11/1/2026 will receive full priority consideration, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Responsibilities: Tenured/Tenure-track faculty are expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of the department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding to conduct cutting-edge research in modern public health science both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator; teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level as designated by the department chairperson; and actively providing service internally to the department, school and university and externally to the profession and/or the community. Areas of interest include examining how social media, digital environments, and emerging technologies influence health behaviors and outcomes among youth and young adults, as well as developing and evaluating digital interventions to prevent or address health risks and conditions such as tobacco use, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity, and injury. Related areas of interest may include digital health, health communication, behavior change, and technology-enabled approaches to promoting health and well-being.
