Qualifications: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential required; experience in school-based behavioral intervention and FBA/BIP development; ability to work with diverse student populations including those with specialized education needs.

Job Description

Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Full-Time - KIPP Academy Boston and KIPP Academy Lynn

KIPP MA is looking for a dynamic, committed and flexible school-based behavior analyst to perform behavioral analysis and intervention support for general education students and students receiving specialized education services in grades K-8. The KIPP MA school-based behavior analyst will work closely with school mental health practitioners, school based student support teams, school leaders, and teachers to execute a tiered approach to behavior support at the school level. 

This position is 2 days / week in person at KIPP Academy Boston and 3 days / week at KIPP Academy Lynn and reports to the KIPP MA Managing Director of Student Supports. The ideal candidate will work with our team to amplify our children’s potential by creating a school experience that affirms, values, and challenges students each day. They will also seek to create a professional and authentic environment of joy, excellence, care, and community where educators can make long-term transformative outcomes for students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Behavior assessment and intervention

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBA), as indicated

  • Conduct preference assessments.

  • Discuss results of the FBA and the proposed BIP with the school-based staff as indicated 

  • Use the result of the FBA to create a function-based behavior intervention plan (BIP).

Data collection

  • Select appropriate data collection tools to measure target and replacement behaviors.

  • Select appropriate data collection tools to measure treatment fidelity.

  • Graph and monitor data for BIP to assess procedure effectiveness on a daily basis.

  • Identify trends in the data and report stagnant and increasing trends in the target behaviors.

  • Analyzes data on a weekly basis to develop training goals.

Staff consultation & training

  • Provides training to staff members regarding classroom behavior management techniques.

  • Provides staff and parent training regarding techniques for remediation of behavioral, social, or personal problems of students.

  • Provides training to staff members on implementing BIPs 

  • Updates school-based staff on best practices and adjustments connected to current cases.

Campus supports

  • Understands the mission of KIPP MA and those of each individual campus, and delivers services in a way that aligns with the school’s program.

  • Meets with campus-based CST’s and special education teams to discuss concerns, answer questions, review complex cases, and support them in finding solutions.

  • Works collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary Clinical Team. Engages parents in a collaborative and compassionate manner that supports student progress.

  • Effective communication skills to perform assigned duties and to meaningfully exchange information with students, staff, families and others in person, through written communication, in front of groups, and on virtual platforms

  • Physical mobility to move self in various positions in order to execute duties effectively, which may include kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping and reaching overhead

  • Physical strength sufficient to periodically lift and/or carry 20 pounds of materials or supplies and to physically restrain a student to keep from harming themself and/or others in an emergency situation

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, there will occasionally be other duties as assigned that staff will engage in to help promote a positive and safe learning environment and culture.
