Role Snapshot
Lead the training and operation of advanced microscopy systems (N-STORM super-resolution and A1 confocal) for the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at Indiana University Bloomington. Serve as the primary expert supporting the neuroscience research community in microscopy techniques and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities: Organize and operate N-STORM super-resolution and A1 confocal microscopy systems; teach PBS neuroscience community on microscopy usage; optimize experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis; write software packages for data analysis; prepare grant illustrations and contribute to grant writing.
Skills & Tools: Expert-level proficiency with N-STORM super-resolution imaging and confocal microscopy systems; strong software development and data analysis capabilities; scientific writing and visualization skills; ability to train and mentor researchers; experience with experimental optimization and troubleshooting.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Science, or closely related field with 10+ years of experience as a research scientist. Required hands-on experience working with N-STORM super-resolution imaging systems.
Location: In-Person
Compensation: $160K–$220K/yr (estimated)

Position Overview
Design and lead the training of researchers of PBS, IU, and P30 consortium members. Duties include: Organize and run the N-STORM super-resolution system and the A1 confocal system; teach the PBS neuroscience community for super-resolution and confocal microscopy use; optimize the experiments, data acquisition and data analysis of the PBS community regarding the microscopes located in MSB-II; write software packages for data analysis; prepare the illustrations for grants and publications; and, contribute to grant writing.
Required Qualifications
Requires Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Science, or closely related field plus 10 years’ experience as a research scientist. Requires experience working with N-STORM super-resolution imaging.
Work Environment
May permit telecommuting.
