Qualifications: Doctorate in biological sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience required, with a minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral experience in plant genomics. Desired: at least 5 years of experience with maize breeding and genomics.

Job Title: Research

Scientist Department: Arts and Sciences | Molecular Genetics Administration The research scientist will participate in the implementation of a nationally competitive science research program within the Department of Molecular Genetics on epigenetic inheritance, gene regulation, and plant breeding. The position will perform research functions that include identifying research problems, developing hypotheses, and creating new research methodologies. They will conduct experiments, collect and statistically analyze data, and interpret findings to address research questions and then disseminate results through peer-reviewed publications, reports, presentations, and seminars. The performed research will result in publishable contributions that answer important questions in the field and open up significant new areas for investigation.

Required: Doctorate (Academic) or equivalent combination of education and experience with a major in biological sciences. A minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral experience in plant genomics is required. Demonstrated ability to be a competent and productive researcher (i.e., incumbent will typically have authored several publications of considerable interest and value to the field as evidenced by favorable reviews, by citation in the work of others, by presentations of papers to professional societies, and/or will have contributed inventions, new designs, or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important applied problems).

Desired: At least 5 years of experience with maize breeding and genomics.

The pay range for this job profile is $70,000 - $75,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
