Job summary
CDW UK’s Enterprise Data team is responsible for driving and accelerating Data, reporting and analytics use, understanding and transformation across people, process, and system. This role provides strategic and technical leadership as well as practical and hands on activityin Data Governance, Data Quality for CDW UK&I. This role works to ensure that CDW UK&I know our data is trusted, high quality, well‑governed, AI-ready and supporting. This role is pivotal to the success of UK&I’s Strategic direction and ongoing enterprise‑wide data transformation.
What you will do
- Provide meaningful and clear metrics to measure, support and predict business activity.
- Support change initiatives to ensure best practice and value focused outputs.
- Ensure clear governance, security and protection of data, its use and meaning.
- Evolve the way of thinking and activity to being a data driven organsiation
- Own and evolve the Data Governance Framework, including policies, standards, controls, and stewardship models.
- Maintain and lead adoption of the Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, Metadata Models, and Lineage Maps, working closely with business and technical SMEs.
- Provide authoritative guidance on data ownership, classification, and access.
- Design and lead the Data Quality Lifecycle across UK&I: profiling, rule definition, quality scorecards, issue management, remediation, and controls.
- Be an Advisor to any programme or transformation activity
- Embed scalable quality automation using Databricks, SQL, and enterprise tooling.
- Partner with business teams to drive cleansing readiness for migration and BAU operations.
- Design and implement a Data Governance and Data Quality maturity model tailored to Enterprise Data objectives, drawing on established frameworks (such as DCAM, DAMA-DMBOK, or CMM) whilst adapting for CDW priorities and context.
- Conduct periodic baseline assessments across business units, functions, and data domains to establish current-state maturity levels and identify capability gaps.
- Define prioritised, target-state maturity, aligned to business priorities, regulatory requirements, and transformation timelines.
- Develop actionable roadmaps that translate maturity gaps into value-based opportunities for improvement
- Act as the senior data governance SME, ensuring mappings, transformations, controls, and lineage are correct, testable, and auditable.
- Oversee alignment between legacy systems, Nav, Databricks pipelines, ADF processes, and the Other business system data models.
- Ensure that data contracts, lineage, and quality gates are embedded into all migration flows.

- - Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
- Ensure all new datasets follow onboarding standards: cataloguing, ownership, and quality SLAs.
- Develop and maintain executive-facing dashboards on data health, governance maturity, and quality trends
- Develop and maintain operational dashboards to help improve day-to-day operational performance and support SLAs
- Define and track KPIs that demonstrate ROI of DG/DQ improvements (e.g. reduced rework, faster time-to-insight, risk reduction etc.)
- Act as the authoritative advisor to programme leadership (TPOs, Product Owners, Engineering Leads) on governance, quality, and compliance risks.
- Influence technical designs for New system, MDM, integration and analytics.
- Provide recommendations on remediation, readiness, migration risk, and quality uplift.
- Ensure data practices for CRM and enterprise data align with GDPR, CDW security controls, and internal retention policies.
- Support DPIAs and data protection assessments when new platforms are introduced
- Identify opportunities to automate governance, quality validation, metadata capture, and lineage using AI‑assisted and cloud‑native techniques.
- Champion data literacy across the UK&I

What we expect of you
Minimum basic requirements (optional)
- Extensive experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, MDM, Profiling, Migration, Metadata, Lineage.
- Strong SQL + Databricks (or equivalent cloud data engineering).
- Proven delivery of governance within complex transformation programmes.
- Hands‑on experience embedding governance in CRM/ERP migrations.
- Strong stakeholder influence without direct authority.
- Expertise in GDPR and secure handling of customer data.
Preferred skills, experience, and qualities needed (optional)
- Experience with Purview or other catalogue tools (E.g unity Catalogue).
- Experience in enterprise MDM or reference data management.
- Automation of quality assessments using cloud tooling.
