WHAT YOU'LL DO 

As a Content Product Owner, you will be responsible for executing projects, managing workloads, documenting processes, and delivering consistent, high-quality learning products that align with product blueprints. This role involves independently overseeing the production of learning and assessment products, ensuring they are delivered within budget and on schedule while meeting internal standards and market requirements. You will manage detailed production schedules, paying close attention to component and technology dependencies, and oversee project development budgets, including estimating, tracking, and reporting on project complexity and costs. Additionally, you will proactively keep relevant team members informed of any updates regarding project details, scope, risks, or schedules.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK 

This position will work a hybrid schedule from our Leawood, KS office location preferred. Remote will be considered within the United States.   

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME

  • Liaise with Learning & Content Managers (LCMs) and ILAS stakeholders to define project requirements, scopes, and objectives that align with the product vision.
  • Determine the most efficient and effective workflow to achieve deliverables, including securing files, documenting current edition specifications, and partnering with LCMs on development plans.
  • Independently manage the production and development of assessment and learning products, ensuring they are delivered on budget, on schedule, and adhere to internal standards and market requirements.
  • Create detailed work plans and project schedules with attention to ILAS definitions of work (e.g., evidence-based update vs. technical review) and component and technology dependencies.
  • Maintain focus on the end goal while solving problems and removing potential blockers throughout the project timeline.
  • Manage the project development budget, including projecting project complexity, estimating costs, tracking, and reporting.
  • Proactively keep all relevant team members informed of any updates to project details, scope, risks, or schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, both internally and externally, by spot-checking project development against specifications and reconciling requested changes.
  • Champion and potentially lead the implementation of process efficiencies for quality assurance, ensuring the integrity and quality of data delivered through appropriate in-house tools and external resources.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years project management experience in educational publishing/learning solutions environment.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP-C) preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage, organize, and prioritize multiple projects and tasks including complex interdependencies between projects.
  • Demonstrated command of formal project management software and/or techniques. Experience with Smartsheet and Jira Align/Jira strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a team environment and directing peers to achieve desired project outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to appropriately tailor communication for various audiences and settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, provide feedback in a constructive manner, and relate product requirements succinctly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated and proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; able to predict, identify, and independently resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ability to establish, adopt, and implement new processes, procedures, and standards in an environment of continuous improvement and innovation.
