Lifecycle & Email Marketing Manager

Role Description: As Lifecycle & Email Marketing Manager, you will own the development, planning, execution, and optimization of customer communication strategy that guide users through the full customer journey—from onboarding to activation, feature adoption, and retention. This is a pivotal, hands-on role at the intersection of growth, product, and brand. You’ll develop and launch high-impact lifecycle communications that drive meaningful user actions and support both consumer and enterprise growth motions.

You’re equal parts strategist, executor, and analyst—someone who can write a subject line, build a sequence, and analyze engagement performance in the same afternoon. You’re passionate about our product and users and know them deeply, recognizing where lifecycle marketing campaigns can improve user experience and adoption AND can expedite movement through the full marketing funnel.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for driving to the following outcomes:

Lifecycle Campaign Execution

  • Own and operate digital marketing touchpoints across the customer lifecycle: including but not limited to onboarding, feature education, retention nudges, and referral loops
  • Build and manage drip campaigns for newsletters, new signups, dormant accounts, and trial-to-paid conversions
  • Align lifecycle touchpoints with in-app messaging to create cohesive, cross-channel journeys (e.g. Sales Outreach, Community, Product, Customer Success)
  • Support go-to-market initiatives with lifecycle campaigns that amplify product launches, usage milestones, and upsell opportunities

Testing & Optimization

  • Design and run A/B tests on messaging, timing, segmentation, and subject lines
  • Use insights from tools like Amplitude, Looker, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement to iterate and improve lifecycle journeys based on engagement and cohort data
  • Maintain documentation and knowledge sharing for lifecycle playbooks and test results

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate closely with Product Management on in-app experiences and support the execution of their roadmap and strategy by using digital marketing to drive MAUs
  • Work closely with product and wider marketing team to align messaging with user journeys and business goals
  • Ensure lifecycle touchpoints reinforce the brand voice while driving measurable user actions
  • Partner with RevOps and data teams to enhance segmentation, trigger logic, and attribution accuracy

Skills & Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring the following skills and qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of lifecycle and email marketing strategies, with an emphasis on onboarding, nurturing, and retention
  • Moderate level of technical understanding of email marketing and best practices to ensure emails get into inboxes and are engaged with once there
  • Strong technical execution skills using CRM, marketing automation, and messaging platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Pardot/Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, Iterable, Pendo)
  • Ability to align messaging across email and in-app experiences, partnering with product and ops to ensure delivery and impact
  • Data-driven mindset with experience measuring lifecycle performance and using tools like Amplitude or Looker to analyze and act
  • Creative copywriting and sequencing skills to design thoughtful, persona-driven journeys

Experience:

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in lifecycle or email marketing in a SaaS, product-led growth, or digital-first environment
  • Proven track record of creating and optimizing email campaigns that move users from signup to activation and beyond
  • Experience with A/B testing and personalization strategies across CRM/email channels
  • Familiarity with growth KPIs including MAU, DAU, retention, activation rate, and churn reduction
  • Strong collaboration skills—particularly with product, design, and operations

Nice to Have:

  • Experience aligning in-product and external messaging (Amplitude, in-app banners, etc.)
  • Exposure to EdTech where messaging precision and segmentation matter
  • Exposure to product-led growth (PLG) environments and sales-led growth (SLG) environments, especially freemium-to-paid or team expansion models
  • Basic HTML skills to edit email code
