Role Snapshot
Cengage Group seeks a strategic Counsel specializing in AI, Digital Content & Intellectual Property to provide legal advice on AI development, copyright, and trademark issues while supporting innovation across the organization. This remote role involves managing risk and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Advise on AI development, deployment, and commercialization; assess legal risks related to AI training data and regulatory compliance; provide counsel on digital content licensing and acquisition; manage trademark portfolio and enforce IP rights; support internal governance on responsible AI practices.
Skills & Tools: Deep expertise in copyright and intellectual property law with strong understanding of AI legal landscapes, including LLM development and AI-generated content; excellent communication, business judgment, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) with 3-5 years of experience in intellectual property law, technology, and AI; in-house experience at a tech or media company is preferred with deep understanding of copyright, IP, and data usage rights frameworks.
Location: Massachusetts
Compensation: $138K–$180K/yr
