The Director of Financial Planning leads the university's financial planning team and supports strategic decision-making through comprehensive financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis. This role is critical to informing operational planning, evaluating business ventures, and developing long-term financial strategies for Old Dominion University.
Key Responsibilities: Develops and leads enrollment and revenue modeling, manages appropriation and allotments, supports the biennial budget process, and oversees institutional performance measure reporting. Provides analytical support for ongoing financial analysis and assists with Board of Visitors materials and special projects.
Skills & Tools: Strong expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, budget analysis, and institutional reporting with proficiency in data analysis and presentation tools. Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and present financial insights to senior leadership and governing bodies.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field required; master's degree preferred. Five or more years of progressive financial planning and analysis experience in higher education or similar complex organizational environment.

Job Description
This position leads the Financial Planning team and assists the Assistant Vice President for Budget & Financial Planning with all aspects of financial planning and analysis in support of operational planning, evaluation and analysis of new business ventures and partnerships, and to inform the development of long-term operating plans. In doing so, the Director develops and leads enrollment and revenue modeling, forecasting and reporting, supports the development of the commonwealth biennial budget process, manages appropriation and allotments, reporting, and compliance requirements.
The Director provides analytical and informational support for ongoing analysis, manages the monitoring and reporting of Institutional Performance Measures and other mandated reporting. The Director assists the Assistant Vice President for Budget & Financial Planning with the coordination and development of Board of Visitors Materials and presentations, as well as with special projects and analysis as assigned.
