Business Development Manager for Canadian Solar's C&I BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) team, responsible for evaluating new product and market opportunities, developing financial models, and driving strategic business initiatives with high autonomy and executive visibility.

Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed financial models for energy sector investments, build and manage P&L analyses and forecasting, prepare comprehensive business cases and investor-ready plans, conduct market research and competitive analysis, and partner cross-functionally with Product, Finance, Sales, and Operations teams to support new business launches and drive data-backed decisions.
Skills & Tools: Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and financial planning tool proficiency combined with exceptional analytical and quantitative capabilities, strong executive communication and presentation skills, and demonstrated ability to write structured, data-driven business plans with high autonomy and ownership mindset.
Qualifications: MBA from a top-tier program preferred; demonstrated experience managing P&Ls, working in project finance across European energy sectors, and prior experience at leading consulting firms a plus. Second language (Chinese or Spanish) and experience creating and managing sales teams in energy sector financial asset management are advantageous.

Compensation: $85K–$130K/yr (estimated)

Canadian Solar is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our C&I Storage & PV Turnkey Solution team. This person will play a key role in our strategic initiatives, evaluating new product and market opportunities, developing business models, analyzing financial models, and partnering cross-functionally to drive business performance. This individual will operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, supporting executive-level decision-making through rigorous analysis and clear, structured communication. Duties & Responsibilities Develop detailed financial models in the Energy sector to evaluate new product launches, growth initiatives, and strategic investments. Experience & Exposure to Project Finance across European Energy sector landscape. Build and manage P&L analyses, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to track existing businesses and programs. Prepare comprehensive business cases and investor-ready business plans for internal management and external investors. Support the launch and ramp up of new businesses by providing business development and project management support. Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and industry benchmarking. Translate complex data into clear insights and executive-level presentations. Partner with Product, Finance, Sales, and Operations teams to drive data-backed decisions. Support strategic planning processes, including long-range planning and quarterly reviews. Identify operational efficiencies and revenue optimization opportunities. Present findings and recommendations directly to senior leadership. Independently manage projects from concept through execution. Experience in creating a reporting sales team with Energy sector financial asset management experience, to be operational in multiple countries Requirements MBA from a top-tier program a plus. Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills. Strong experience working with and managing P&Ls. Demonstrated ability to write structured, data-driven business plans. High degree of autonomy, ownership mindset, and self-motivation. Strong executive communication and presentation skills. Proficiency in Excel (advanced), PowerPoint, and financial planning tools. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience at a leading consulting firm is a plus Second language, Chinese or Spanish a plus.
