City Year is seeking a Data Engineer for a short-term contractor position to support their Data Management and Reporting team, focusing on maintaining and enhancing data pipelines in an Azure and Databricks environment.
Responsibilities: The Data Engineer will learn the current architecture, maintain existing data pipelines, and manage third-party data integrations.
Skills: Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience with Azure environments, ETL/ELT projects, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, SQL, Python, and working with various data formats.
Qualifications: Experience with Databricks Lakehouse and Microsoft Fabric, and familiarity with archiving solutions in Azure is a plus.
Location: This position is flexible and can be performed anywhere in the United States.
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation ranges for this position are between $90,000 - $130,000.

City Year Headquarters’ Data Management and Reporting (DMAR) Team seeks an experienced Data Engineer for help in our Azure and Databricks environment. The Data Engineer will maintain and manage data pipelines and integrations within our Azure and Databricks environment.
Responsibilities:
- Learn our current architecture and data pipelines
- Maintain, manage and enhance our current data pipelines
- Maintain and manage our current third-party data integrations
You must have:
- At least 3+ years of professional experience in the following:
- Working in an Azure environment on ETL/ELT projects
- Azure DevOps and CI/CD in general
- Azure Databricks
- Azure Data Factories
- SQL
- Python
- Relational databases
- Working with heterogeneous datasets/formats from many vendors, providers, and platforms
- Experience with Unity Catalogs
Nice to have:
- Some experience
- with Databricks Lakehouse
- with Microsoft Fabric
- with archiving and backup solutions in Microsoft Azure
Timeline:
This is a short-term contractor role, with an undetermined ending. The person filling this role would remain on, maintaining and enhancing our data pipelines until a full-time candidate can be found.
