Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, manage Scrum team execution, and collaborate on strategic automation planning with leadership.
Skills & Tools: Strong proficiency in Java and Python; expertise in test automation tools (TOSCA QTest, Selenium, Postman, REST API); CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins); performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner); database platforms (MongoDB, PostgreSQL); version control (Git); and data analysis tools (Splunk). Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, develop scalable software solutions, and work effectively in Agile/SAFe environments.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Information Systems, or related field with seven years of progressive IT experience including test automation, CI/CD, and Agile development. Proven expertise in automation testing strategies, Scrum practices, and demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Job Description

Lead Software Engineer in Quality Assurance

Responsible for ensuring the highest quality products by designing, developing, implementing, and supporting solutions to support the quality assurance and testing processes, especially in test automation. Lead the work of cross functional teams and contractors to drive efficiencies and foster a growth mindset through building, maintaining and enhancing a test automation framework that will be used across ACT’s software Product suite and internal back-office systems. Independently design flexible, scalable solutions, utilizing skills in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. Independently build, customize, deploy, and manage software in a continuous integration environment, including automated build, test and deployment infrastructure. Proactively monitor product scalability, reliability, consistency, and performance and own all activities related to Scrum team execution, including anticipating and proactively planning work across sprints. Conduct code reviews and ensure correct implementation of automation framework and blueprint; identify, document, triage, and resolve issues. Actively participate in design / architectural discussions, grooming user stories, sprint demos, and daily scrums in BDD approach and recommend changes. Contribute to tool selection via conducting proof of concepts and utilities related to test automation, Robotic Process Automation or AI, organizational standards, best practices and process improvements including with Software Development Lifecycle and test processes. Propose and implement solutions for test data management; build solutions around data and reports testing; ensure compliance for automation scripts and related artifacts; and report QA metrics. Mentor other Engineers to implement test automation framework. Work closely with VP of QAE to develop strategic timeline for automation. Telecommuting/remote employment allowed after one year of employment at Iowa City headquarters.

Intended salary for this position is $123,989.00 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Development, Information Systems or closely related field with seven years of progressive IT experience that includes: coding in JAVA or Python; TOSCA QTest; API test automation tools using Postman or RestAPI; CI/CD automation using Jenskins; IDE like Eclipse or IntelliJ; performance and load testing using tools such as Jmeter, Redline, or LoadRunner; Data analysis tools such as Splunk; database platforms such as MongoDB or Postgressql; Version Control tools such as GIT; Application Lifecycle Management tools such as Jira or Rally; working in an Agile development environment, and experience with automation testing of UI features using Selenium, developing Python scripts for testing using IDEs, and defining automation test strategy, approach, and planning for Agile sprints and as well as demonstrated ability to develop software solutions, to use JSON and XML, to mentor and coach team, and to work as part of a Scrum team, following SAFe Agile practices; strong understanding of Python; demonstrated relational and no-SQL database skills (MongoDB, Raven); and strong knowledge of version control (Git).
